A Slow Week
I’ve struggled this week to come up with stuff to write about. It’s not that I don’t have anything to say, but I have plenty of choices.
First off, I could have written about last Sunday’s run on the bike trails at Chicopee Woods. It was a fun time, even though we all managed to get
lost misguided. There was a decent river crossing that was unexpected. We ran into a couple ultra friends of Romans who were out doing a casual 30 miles.
Or I could talk about the Disney marathon. I went to look at signing up for the Goofy challenge, which I’ve wanted to do for a number of years. After taking a look, I was absolutely disgusted with the $235 price tag. Now, I have no problem with paying to run a race; they cost money to put on, so it’s reasonable to help pay for it. But come on! I can’t imagine it costing that much. Even more so, this costs more than if you sign up for both races separately ($110 for the the full, $100 for the half, which in itself is on the upper end of what I’m willing to pay). Matter of fact, I was going to write a full entry just about this, but decided I didn’t want to waste bandwidth on it.
I’ve started doing speed work once or twice during my lunchtime runs, so thought about writing about that. Maybe even mention how I did something to my leg this week and whine a bit…but then realized I have no business talking speed, since I am severely lacking in that department.
I could also spend time talking about how excited I am about our 29 Cubed race. I sent some email to some friends, and a old coworker in Spokane, Washington is going to do this virtually with us. Then I posted a challenge on Runner+, and people around the world are starting to sign up. There’s a fellow up in NY who was the first to join, then a gal in the United Kingdom did…now a number of other folks over in the UK have also signed up. So, it’s pretty exciting!
My brother, a super endurance biker, sent me a post about the Furnace 500 race he did. Sounds like fun, but didn’t leave me much to say about it.
I also just decided to join the Complete Running Network to help boost readership here. I’ve read a few things there and enjoyed them, so if you’re looking for something to read elsewhere, you may want to take a look.
So, as you can see, I had plenty to talk about…so here you are, a sampling of it all.
