Happy Holidays

Categories: The Home

Wow, it’s been a while since I’ve posted anything. Life has been very busy.  Hope you all have a happy holiday season.

I wish I had some exciting stories to tell, but alas, none are there.  My coworker and I ran the Serenbe 15K in November.  I was pretty happy with it, and assuming I’m still in relatively the same shape, Hogpen hill climb next month is looking pretty good.

The Hogpen is a 17K race in Helen, GA.  When I ran it in 2009, I was the 5th to last person to finish, in 2:32.   I’m hoping to beat that next time.  I couple thing are going for me:

  • I'm around 30 pounds lighter. Hopefully that will count for something, although I've found in weeks where I lose weight, my running seems to be a bit off.
  • I've been trying to work on speed.  Not necessarily successfully, but I have been working on it.
  • Last time I wore my camelback. This time, I think I'll just use a handheld.
  • I now know what to expect.

Of course, there’s whats going against me too:

  • 10 miles is a long ways...the majority of it is uphill.  What am I thinking?
  • I've been doing a bit of running pushing a stroller. I won't know what to do with my hands now.
  • Last time I ran it, it was 22 degrees at the start. This winter has been pretty cold so far, so who knows what it's going to be like.
  • I now know what to expect.

In all likelihood, I probably should have gone running this morning instead of writing this. But alas, my cup of joe tastes great, and I got to type Happy Holidays to y’all.
